TDK Ventures Invests in XCOM ahead of AWE 2022

0

Last Wednesday, wireless communications vendor XCOM Labs announced that TDK Ventures had invested an unconfirmed sum to accelerate its 5G and wireless communications solutions.

The funds will enable XCOM to enhance its industry 4.0 connectivity solutions for automation, remote guidance, and frontline training, allowing XCOM to expand into new healthcare, entertainment, and defence markets.

TDK Ventures President, Nicolas Sauvage, said,

“Their [XCOM Lab’s] solutions are being designed to be pervasive to our digitally transforming world and represent a future that TDK wants to see and is committed to bringing to fruition”

TDK Ventures’ investment also supports early product production for XCOM, including early-access product distribution and software ecosystem development.

The Japanese firm will also provide XCOM with assistance and insight into marketplace reach, manufacturing expertise, supply chain support, and branding mentorship.

Enhanced XR Telecoms

XCOM’s lineup of telecommunication technology patents improves efficiency tenfold, according to the firm. The San Diego-based company also supports industry 4.0 by supplying worksites with 60GHz millimetre0-wave band infrastructures.

XCOM’s waveband is a low-latency wireless system that allows worksites to commit to digital transformation by building the infrastructure required to deliver real-time 3D content (RT3D) to augmented, virtual, and mixed reality (AR/VR/MR) wearables.

Additionally, XCOM stated its waveband technology supports enterprise-grade Metaverse platforms and integrated edge computing.

XCOM Lab Executive Team Member, Dr Paul Jacobs, said that the “future of compute-heavy applications” relied on high-throughput computing and low latency telecoms.

Dr Jacobs added,

“Our extended reality (XR) technologies are evidence of this progress and show that seamless processing through edge computing can deliver a truly immersive and agile VR/AR system fit for business, entertainment, and more”

The executive also said that his firm was delivering a seamless wave band to provide “real and positive change” for the planet and industry applications.

Augmented World Expo 2022

The news comes amid this year’s Augmented World Expo (AWE), where XCOM will showcase its wireless XR system to attendees. The firm’s exhibition will allow multiple visitors to explore immersive environments and interact with real-time 3D (RT3D) assets.

The enterprise will also provide attendees with an HTC VIVE Focus 3 headset with accompanying haptic vests and hand trackers, equipped with XCOM Lab’s radios and access points, to fully immerse individuals in an XR space.

The AWE 2022 is taking place this week, June 1 – 3, at the Santa Clara Convention Center, and the convention features various XR companies representing the best in immersive innovation.
