Meta Reveals Connect 2022 Schedule

0

Next Tuesday, October 11, Meta is hosting its Connect event, an annual online showcase highlighting the firm’s technology updates and roadmaps.

According to Meta promotional posts, this year’s event will feature the firm’s long-awaited mixed reality (MR) headset, the Meta Quest Pro.

In a Facebook post, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg teased the upcoming device, although a hotel worker leaked a video showing a Meta Quest Pro device the same week.

Zuckerberg, Davenport Keynotes

Melinda Davenport, the Director of Internal Communications for Meta, is hosting the live-streamed keynotes, developer sessions, and workshops for its online event.

Additionally, Meta is making Connect 2022 watchable in VR via its Quest headset in a custom-built Horizon Worlds environment called “Meta Square.”

Zuckerberg is kicking off the event at 10:00 PT to discuss how social metaverse services can bring people together in more profound, meaningful ways.

State of the Union

Next up, Meta is hosting a Developer State of the Union. Representatives from its Reality Labs immersive technology research and development (R&D) subdivision will inform watchers of its most recent innovations.

The session will also cover third-party immersive applications ecosystems, business platforms, Horizon Workplace, content publishing, and developer diversity.

Meta will later run a Developer keynote explaining how to use Meta products, tools, and hardware to build immersive experiences, create natural interactions, and transform businesses in the Metaverse.

Finally, the live stream concludes with its regular Carmack Unscripted session, where John Carmack, Consulting CTO for Reality Labs at Meta and famed video game programmer, will speak candidly on the future of extended reality (XR).

Deep Dev Sessions

Meta Connect 2022 also includes additional developer workshops to assist XR designers in creating immersive experiences with the Menlo Park-based firm’s ecosystem of XR technology.

The Meta team gives design tips for XR developers at various levels. The firm is presenting many aspects of its metaverse content creation tools, including how to design multiplayer experiences, avatar wearables, virtual objects, and mobile webXR content.

Meta of its execs will also explore ways businesses can make money with XR by harnessing immersive content and solutions.

Additionally, during an enterprise showcase, the Meta team will provide insight into how Web3-ready firms can get ahead using immersive marketing, monetization, and optimization.
