Osso VR Earns $66m in Series C Fundraiser
VR medical training firm Osso VR announced last week it had secured $66 million USD in a round of Series C fundraising from investment lead Oak HC/FT and participation from GSR Ventures, Kaiser Permanente Ventures, Signalfire, and Tiger Global Management.
Funds raised from investors will aim to expand its educational solutions as well as to attract fresh talent to grow and innovate the firm, the company said in fresh updates.
Meta Selects Spain as Global Metaverse Capital
Meta Platforms Inc announced it had selected Spain as its destination for promoting its Metaverse ambitions in Europe, namely as it plans to promote its Horizons suite of mixed reality (MR) platforms.
The Menlo Park-based firm stated it wanted to boost high-skilled workforces, back local businesses and entrepreneurs, as well as fund and develop digital infrastructures, with Spain as its main tech hub.
Saudi’s Ithra Center Dazzles London with XR Showcase
Execs across the British XR industry attended the Ithra Center’s Creative Solutions event in Central London last week, which showcased cultural and educational case studies for immersive technologies.
Using Oculus Quest 2 headsets and tools from Unity, OpenBrush, and others, five carefully selected teams from Saudi Arabia demoed their virtual experiences for a massive audience at Westminster’s historic County Hall, showcasing some of the brightest minds in both Kingdoms.
Metaverse Fashion Week to Showcase Future of Commerce
The Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW) concluded after kicking off last week, which invited netizens from around the world to try on new digital fashions from some of the industry’s biggest brands and designers.
Taking place in a virtual digital fashion platform designed by Decentraland, the immersive gala involved featured brands such as the Immersive KIND, Artisant, e-ternity, Puma, Deadfellaz, The Sevens, FangGang, DKNY, Tommy Hilfiger, and many others.
