Unity Technologies has formed a strategic partnership with Capgemini to offer consultations to firms seeking metaverse solutions, the latter revealed on Wednesday.
According to the agreement, both companies will collaborate on “sector-specific solutions” in the multi-year partnership. Capgemini will also offer its Metaverse Lab featuring senior technology experts from its Group Executive Committee.
The Lab will work to develop future human-machine interfaces (HMIs), digital twins, metaverse work platforms, blockchains, and decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs), it added.
The San Francisco-based real-time 3D (RT3D) engine maker for immersive technologies also aims to boost the French multinational consultancy to empower firms with customer and employee experience strategies while also driving growth for the immersive tech platform, Capgemini explained.
It added it would share its deep experience in market trends and insights to allow Unity to build on its product roadmaps for emerging technologies such as extended reality (XR), Metaverse, Web3, blockchain, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), 5G and 6G, artificial intelligence (AI), among others.
Unity-Capgemini Partnership Focus Areas
The firms explained the partnership will:
- create and outline approaches and methodologies, and conduct research and development (R&D) for Capgemini’s Metaverse Lab to develop future Metaverse and Web3 technologies
- Provide support for business and solution development, sales initiatives with experts and knowledge from both Capgemini and Unity
- Rally Unity-certified talent with recruitment and upskilling initiatives across sectors
The deal aims to boost sectors such as manufacturing, life sciences, media and technology, utilities, public services, retail, and many others.
Pascal Brier, Chief Innovation Officer for Capgemini, said,
“Metaverse and immersive experiences open a whole universe of possibilities for our clients across industries, from enabling more emotional connections with consumers, and reinventing employee experience and collaboration, to optimizing engineering, manufacturing and operations using digital twins Shaping sector-specific use cases and developing them at scale will require expert technical and operational capabilities”
He concluded that Capgemini was “thrilled” to work with Unity to foster business value for clients.
Echoing Brier’s statements, Marc Whitten, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Unity Create Solutions, added the partnership would “accelerate the adoption of real-time 3D technologies” for numerous industries.
He continued, stating,
“Unity’s real time 3D solutions will bring many new companies into the next generation of the internet, or metaverse, helping them achieve greater engagement with their customers”
The news comes after several key consultancies have begun forming groups to increase momentum in the XR industry and develop emerging tech solutions.
Rival firm Accenture launched its Metaverse Continuum Group in March to explore further uses for the Metaverse and its business applications, following a massive report the company published revealing the Metaverse would have positive and “transformational” impacts on global industries.
