Last Friday at the ‘Virtual and Augmented Reality Association’s (VRARA) Immerse Global Summit: Metaverse’ event, Metaverse platform UPWorlds announced an accelerator and funding opportunity to encourage developers to create monetisable, immersive content on its platform.
In a session hosted by XR Bootcamp Co-Founders Ferhan Ozkan and Rahel Demant, and Sonya Seddarasan, Founder of UPWorlds, the speakers introduced the XR Bootcamp-UPWorlds Accelerator and Academy, which explores current Metaverse developer opportunities.
The recently-founded Accelerator partnership offers a fresh avenue for Metaverse creators to learn, develop, and distribute immersive VR content, enabling VR developers to create immersive content while inside an UPWorld’s virtual environment.
Similarly, Meta debuted its Horizon Worlds Metaverse platform in the US earlier this month, which offers a number of custom creation suites as well as creator funds.
With help from the XR Bootcamp team, developers will soon be able to use UPWorld’s creation suite while receiving support from XR Bootcamp’s trusted mentors. Some of the content that VR developers will be able to create includes environments, interactive assets, avatar items, and much more.

Debuting last year, UPWorlds is an innovate Metaverse platform that acts as a gateway for VR content creation, distribution, and monetisation.
In an interview earlier this year, Sonya Seddarasan stated that:
“[UPWorlds] is a new way for content creators to monetise what they love to do, which is building immersive environments, and event hosts can have greater access to impressive bespoke worlds on demand”
VR and Metaverse developers who use UPWorlds can work with real-time 3D (RT3D) creation suites such as Blender, Unity, Rhino, and Unreal Engine to distribute immersive content for the platform.
According to Sonya, ‘Builders’ on UPWorlds can create environments or assets to facilitate various use cases such as “education, performance, or tourism.”
With assistance from XR Bootcamp, UPWorlds will can now enhance its VR content creation suite by supporting RT3D developers—at any level—to develop its platform.
New Opportunities with XR Bootcamp
Founded in 2016, XR Bootcamp is an online academy democratising XR content development with high-quality RT3D and development training for individuals.
XR Bootcamp has a diverse range of external advisors, lecturers, trainers, and mentors who assist budding XR developers with masterclasses and other online resources.
The bootcamp is available to XR creatives regardless of individual development skills. Speaking on the initiative, Ozkan told XR Today in an interview,
“We work with our industry board to define the most pressing and in-demand skills that [a majority of the] industry needs today […] Based on the advisory board that XR Bootcamp created with major company representatives, we realised there was not only a quantitative skills gap, but a qualitative one as well”
By partnering with UPWorlds, XR Bootcamp can engage with XR developers and help fulfil the demand for high-quality Metaverse content. At the moment, XR Bootcamp is currently accepting applications for its upcoming ‘XR Foundations & Prototyping’ course which starts on January 10 next year.
